To Make the Dog Biscuit Jar and Fold the Dish Towel into Wrapping Paper (of sorts):

Here are 2 pictures of the doggie jar - with and without the bandana topping!  Here's Polly Doodlebug in her bandana - Sandy's jealous!  See how easy the paw prints are to paint?  They look like a fat heart with 4 tear drops.  You can even buy a bandana if you are a lazy bones and don't want to make one!  Be sure to follow the directions to cure the paint.  Your 4 paw barker will love the recipes.  I already ate my soup and am using the jar for the biscuits!

Here are the steps for folding the dish towel.  Sandy smells the dog biscuits!  Here's the finished towel, price tag and all on the bottom of the fire hydrant cookie cutter!  OOPS!

To make the People and Doggy Bone Stockings:

Here are the two finished stockings.  Notice the different color felt circles and buttons.  You can't see it in the picture, but there is sewing around each circle.  I sewed around the edges of each circle by machine with red thread.  If you look close on the bone stocking, you can see where I sewed the white around the top edge and where I stopped.  Then you line up the front and back and and sew the bottom and sides closed, leaving an opening in the top so you can add the treats.  The reasons I sewed the top edge is for appearance - so the entire stocking has a finished edge - and it does need an opening.

To make the Mutt and Mug Warmer

Here's the mug and mutt warmers!  Sandy won't give up his little mutt warmer.  He's a show-off and wants all the attention - this is his best side!

Here's an old sweater form a garage sale, moth holes and all (50¢).  We'll make the mug warmer from the sleeve cuffs and the mutt warmer from the bottom ribbing.

Measure the rib on the sleeve cuffs (this is about 4-inches) and cut off the sweater 5-inches above where the ribbing ends on the sleeve.  This will make 2 mug warmers.  Now measure the ribbing around the bottom of the sweater.  This measures about 3 inches.  Cut off the sweater body 3 inches above where the ribbing ends.

To make the Mutt Warmer:
Cut open the seam along one side to make one long piece.

Fold the ribbing in half towards the sweater, so right sides are together and sew along this edge.  Leave one edge open, and sew one side into a V-shape as in the picture below.

Sew a pompom on the end of the V.  Make a loop on the other end by folding the edge over 3½-inches and stitching close to the edge.

Pull the pompom edge through the loop and secure around your 4 paw barker's neck. Here's Penny showing off her mutt warmer!  We managed to get it away from Sandy!

To make the Mug Warmer:

Fold the sweater part of the sleeve towards the inside of the ribbing. Tuck under the raw edge 1-inch and sew to the inside of the cuff ( below the dark gray line).  I put the mug warmer on the mug to sew this raw edge in place.  It's a bit easier to do it this way. No turn so the ribbing is on the outside, and hand sew a felt flower in place.  First sew the leaves in place and leave about an inch between each leaf.  Then line up 3 circles, one smaller than the other (on top of each other) and sew each around the edge.  Sew a yellow round piece of felt in the center.  I just tacked this piece in the center and did not sew around the edges.

A nice piece of Biscotti would taste great with this!  Here's a really good recipe that is made from a box of devil's food cake mix.  It's from a friend, from a friend, from a friend....

Chocolate Almond Biscotti

1 package (18.25 oz) devil's food cake mix
1 stick unsalted butter, melted
2 large eggs
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 tsps instant coffee dissolved in 2 Tbsp hot water (coffee enhances the flavor of chocolate)
1/2 tsp almond extract
1 small package (1/2 cup) slivered almonds, toasted*

* to toast almonds, place almonds in a non-stick pan.  Gently heat, stirring constantly, until almonds begin to brown, then remove from pan.  Place on a cutting board and chop.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Spray a cookie sheet with non-stick vegetable oil.  In the mixing bowl of an electric mixer, combine cake mix, butter, eggs, flour, coffee and almond extract.  Mix about 4 minutes, or until dough ball forms.  Gently stir in toasted almonds.

Turn out dough onto a floured surface and knead several times.  Divide dough in 2 and work with 1 section at a time.  Form the dough into 2  (12 x 4-inches, by 1/2 inch thick) sections. Bake for 35 minutes.  Remove from oven and cool on the cookie sheet for 10 minutes, but keep oven on.  Cut dough into 1-inch slices on the diagonal (cut on the cookie sheet), and then turn each slice on its side. Return cookie sheet to oven and bake biscotti an additional 10 minutes. Turn the oven off, but keep the biscotti in the oven an additional 60 minutes.  The biscotti will have a wonderfully crisp texture for dunking!  Cool completely on a wire rack and store in a container.

That's it for the CRAFTS!  Now make the recipes to go with each craft and you truly have some wonderfully unique gifts that your 2 legger friends and 4 paw barker friends will love you for!
